7/24/25
Fresh off a sweep against the Angels and riding a 4-game win streak, the 59-44 Mets will head west to begin a 6-game away stand, starting with 3 games against the Giants.
The Giants, on the other hand, are 3rd in the NL West with a 54-49 record and have won 3 of their last 10 games. However, they are riding a 2-game win streak after defeating the Braves.
San Francisco’s offense has been lackluster in 2025 thus far, being bottom 10 in all major offensive stats, average, slugging, OBP, OPS, hits, RBIs, and home runs.
The Giants' struggles on offense are caused by underperformance by key players, for example, Rafael Devers, whom they acquired by trade back in June. Devers in 31 games is batting .242, with 4 homers, 15 RBIs, and a highly disappointing .754 OPS.
For New York, they have seen struggles recently from Lindor, Soto, and Alonso. Lindor has just 2 hits in the last 6 games, Soto has 4 hits in his last 36 at-bats, and Alonso has just 4 hits in the last 37 at-bats. To make up for the disappointment at the top of the order, the Mets have seen big numbers from Brett Baty, who has batted .386 with 2 home runs and 3 RBIs since the All-Star Break. Along with Brett Baty, since making his return to the big leagues on Monday, Francisco Alvarez has put up great numbers and has come up clutch in multiple moments. In 2 games, Alvarez has 2 hits, 2 walks, 1 homerun, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs in 8 plate appearances.
For the pitching, the Mets are lined up to face the two best of the Giants' starters for the first two games, Logan Webb and Robbie Ray. Webb has a 3.08 ERA, while Ray has posted a 2.92 ERA. The third game is a bullpen day for the Giants with Carson Seymour as the opener.
On the mound for the Mets are Clay Holmes, All-Star David Peterson, and Kodai Senga, who have all performed very well this season.
The first two games are slated to be late-night, Friday at 10 PM and Saturday at 9 PM, with the final game being streamed on ESPN at 7 PM.
