After a roller coaster ride of the season the Mets finally play the last regular season series of the series, on the road against the Marlins.
Last night against the Phillies the 77-82 Marlins were eliminated from playoff contention, but Miami is still looking to show fight in the last three games of the series with their top three pitchers on the mound. Sandy Alcantara, Eury Perez and Edward Cabrera lined up to pitch.
The Marlins offense in September has not been too bad, hitting .263, with 23 home runs 116 RBI’s. Those offensive numbers have pulled the Marlins to a 12-14 record in September
For the Mets, this is all or nothing.
The Mets currently hold a 1 game lead over the Reds and 2 game lead over the Diamondbacks for the last Wild Card spot.
On the mound for the Mets are some question marks, other than Friday night where Brandon Sporat is scheduled to pitch the Mets just have question marks on who will start each game. The Mets have many options, Tong could pitch the last game, Manaea, Holmes can piggyback, they could call up Senga, have a bullpen day, Peterson could have an opener or join Manaea and Holmes piggy back, but the opportunity leaves loads of questions.
The Mets offense, like all year, has been inconsistent in September. The team is batting .230 with 33 HR and 119 total runs.
First game of the series is Friday night, second game is Saturday afternoon, then the series finale is Sunday for another afternoon game.
