Game 2:
In the second game of the series, both teams' offenses were quiet, but despite the offensive struggles, the Mets pulled through in a 2-1 win to improve their win streak to 6 games.
The game started quietly for both teams, and after the Mets had some great defensive plays, both teams remained scoreless at the end of 3 innings. Then, in the 4th inning, the Giants got on the board first with a Jung Hoo Lee fielder's choice RBI to make the score 1-0.
After a scoreless 5th, Mark Vientos came up huge for the Mets with a 2-run double to bring home Marte and Soto to make the score 2-1.
Both teams would go scoreless the rest of the game, and Edwin Diaz would get the save after Alonso made a huge defensive play to get the 3rd out, and the Mets would secure the win.
Game 3:
On the third and final game of the series, the Mets looked to sweep for the second straight series, which they did after a 4-3 win.
In the first 2 innings, both teams were scoreless until the Mets struck first after Lindor grounded out to bring home Alvarez, but the lead wouldn’t last long as in the 4th the Giants evened things at 1 after a Matt Chapman solo homerun.
The game continued their back-and-forth scoring in the 5th when Mauricio doubled to score Alvarez for his 2nd run of the game. That was before the Giants took the lead with a 2-run home run from Matt Chapman for his second of the day.
The 2 teams kept going back and forth once again after Mauricio hit a solo shot into the bay and Juan Soto hit a solo homerun as well to make the score 4-3. And in the 9th, the Mets got an insurance run after Nimmo grabbed an RBI double.
The Mets would go on to win the game 4-3 and secure their 7th straight win.
A huge part of the win today was 3rd baseman Ronny Mauricio, who shined, going 4 for 4, with 2 RBIs and a home run.
