Fresh off a series sweep against the Phillies, the Mets' high dipped down in game 1 of the series against the Marlins.
At the top of the 1st, the Marlins took an early lead with a sac fly from Ramirez. The lead didn’t last long as in the bottom of the 1st, Nimmo scorched a 2-run double to give the Mets the lead.
In the 3rd, the Marlins kept advancing their runners and would end up scoring 3 runs to grab a 4-2 lead.
Despite being down 4-2 in the 5th, the Mets still showed fight. Pete Alonso launched his 30th homer of the season to tie the game at 4.
Despite the score remaining at 4 a piece for the 6th, the Marlins scored 3 runs in the 7th, after multiple defensive mishaps from the Mets, and the Marlins would grab a 7-4 lead.
On the mound, Clay Holmes disappointed once again, going 5 innings, giving up 4 runs, 2 earned, 5 hits, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts, and an error. While Lindor had a nice day at the plate, going 3 for 5 with a run.
A back-and-forth game with lots of defensive errors for the Mets ends in a 7-4 win for Miami. The Mets are back at it with Jonah Tong making his MLB debut tomorrow.
