9/5/25
Bottom of the 9th, bases loaded, no one out, and Diaz got the job done to secure a Mets win.
The Mets' offense got started early with a 3-run first inning. Vientos hit a single to bring home Soto, Nimmo hit a sacrifice fly, and Marte hit a single that brought home the three runs.
After 2 shutout innings from Peterson, Vientos hit a solo shot in the 3rd to make the score 4-0 New York.
The Reds responded with a sac fly from Marte to make the score 4-1, but in the 4th, the Mets answered right back with a Juan Soto double to bring home Lindor.
The back and forth continued into the 4th as the Reds added 3 runs to make it a 1-run game.
After David Peterson got himself in a jam in the 5th inning, he was pulled, and Ryne Stanek got out of the jam, and this remained scoreless.
Both teams would go silent, and the Mets would win the game after Edwin Diaz pitched himself out of a no-out, bases-loaded jam in the 9th.
Tomorrow Mets look to take the series and continue to extend their lead in the Wild Card race to 7 games with Jonah Tong on the mound.
