9/6/25
Coming off a convincing win the night before, the Mets could not find their rhythm on Saturday night and lost 6-2.
The Mets had a convincing 1st inning with a Lindor single and Nimmo walk, but the Mets stranded 2 runners and got nothing on the opportunity.
Reds and Mets both went scoreless in the bottom of the 1st and top of the 2nd, then in the bottom of the 2nd, the Reds struck first with a Stewart 2-run homerun.
The Mets were able to cut the lead the next inning with a Nimmo sac fly, but the Reds were able to answer with 2 solo shots from McLain and Hayes in the 3rd and 4th innings to make the score 4-1.
Things went silent between both teams until the 7th inning when Jared Young hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-2.
The Reds then quickly responded that same inning with a 2-run inning, with a Friedl RBI single and Elly De La Cruz bases-loaded walk.
The Mets would be able to get one back in the 9th, but that would not be enough, and the Reds would win 6-3.
On the mound, Jonah Tong made his second MLB start, and he was very inconsistent, pitching 6 innings, giving up 4 runs, 3 hits, 4 walks, while striking out 6.
The Mets will look to take the series vs the Reds tomorrow as Brandon Sproat makes his MLB debut.
