The Month of August was one of Juan Soto’s best months this season, and coming into Detroit in a new month, Soto continued to rake.
Juan Soto’s monster game powered the Mets to a 10-8 lead.
The first 4 innings were brutal for both starting pitchers, Sean Manaea and Charlie Morton.
Manaea gave up 5 runs, 8 hits, and 6 strikeouts in 3.2 innings. Jones and Perez homered off Manaea, and McKinstry and Jones had RBI hits, which all powered the 5 runs.
Charlie Morton, on the other hand, allowed 4 walks, 6 hits, and 5 runs. A Torrens 2-run RBI double and a Juan Soto grand slam, his second of his career, collectively scored the 6 runs.
When Stanek came into the game for the Mets, he allowed a run, which tied up the game in the 5th. But the Mets responded in the 6th and 7th innings with a Juan Soto 2-run RBI triple, a Nimmo RBI single, and a Baty RBI ground out to make the score 10-6.
The Tigers were able to get 2 more runs, but Edwin Diaz came in to get a 4-out save, and the Mets would win 10-8.
The near $800 million man, Juan Soto, went 2-3, 2 walks, 1 homerun, 2 hits, and 6 RBIs.
“It’s a show. Every time he’s at the plate, you have to watch it,” said Carlos Mendoza
“It’s pretty special and I’m glad he’s on our team,”
The Mets will look to take the series tomorrow with pitching phenom Nolan McLean on the mound.
