With the trade deadline officially over, the Mets have finished the moves they need to make and are now preparing for the final 2 months of the season.
The first trade the Mets made was to acquire lefty releiver Gregroy Soto from the Orioles, giving up Wellington Aracena and Cameron Foster last Friday. In 2 appearances with the Mets so far, he has pitched 1.2 innings, giving up 2 hits and 1 unearned run with a loss.
The second trade was for reliever Tyler Rodgers, in a deal where the Mets gave up the most, including Jose Butto, Blade Tidwell (#10 NYM Prospect), and Drew Gilbert (#12 NYM Prospect). Across 50 innings pitched, Rogers has a 1.80 ERA, 38 strikeouts, and a 0.86 WHIP.
The third overall trade and the second trade the Mets made a day before the deadline was for Ryan Helsley. The Mets gave up Frank Elissalt, Jesus Baez (#8 NYM Prospect), and Nate Dohm (NYM #14 Prospect) for the 2x All-Star. In a closer role, Helsley has had a down year this year, posting a 3.00 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and 41 strikeouts across 36 innings. Helsley has one of the best fastballs in the game, which has reached speeds of up to 104 MPH, with an average of 99 MPH, placing him in the 99th percentile of all pitchers.
The final trade the Mets completed was 2 hours before the deadline when they acquired Orioles centerfielder Cedric Mullins. In the trade for Mullins, the Mets gave up Raimon Gomez, Chandler Marsh, and Anthony Nunez, all minor league pitchers. In 2025, Mullins has a .229 average, with 15 homers, 49 RBI, and a .738 OPS, which is a huge upgrade over Tyrone Taylor in CF.
The Mets went through the trade deadline without giving up any major prospects or talent already at the MLB level, marking a big success for the Orange and Blue.
